South Gloucestershire and Stroud College invites applications for a Science Technician at the Filton Campus. The role supports GCSE and Access departments, preparing labs, checking equipment and assisting teaching staff with day-to-day laboratory duties.

Candidates should hold a degree or equivalent or have substantial relevant subject experience, and possess prior laboratory work experience. The post is permanent, part-time, term-time only, 19 hours per week over 38 weeks per year; salary up to

• Previous experience of working in a laboratory or Technician role in industry or education.
• To be suitable for this role you must hold a degree or equivalent or have substantial relevant subject experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the laboratories and tools are safe in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations.
• Ensure the safe storage and use of chemicals and other materials in accordance with current Health and Safety Regulations and good practice.
• Set up the laboratories and training areas daily in preparation for forthcoming classes, supplying equipment and materials as requested by lecturers including setup of audio/visual equipment.
• Maintain laboratories and preparation rooms to a high standard.
