Job summary

King’s Oak Academy in South Gloucestershire is seeking a Science Technician to support practical science lessons. You will prepare, provide, maintain and manage resources and information to enable safe, engaging practical activities for staff and students.

You should have A Level in science or equivalent, COSHH knowledge, good IT skills and strong communication. Part-time 22 hours/week, term time plus inset days, with a flexible pattern; permanent appointment started Nov 2026.

Qualifications

• Practical experience following processes and procedures.
• Experience using, cleaning, maintaining and ensuring safety of specialist equipment.
• A Level science or equivalent experience in science such as laboratory work.
• COSHH knowledge or related guidance (CLEAPPS) and safe handling of hazardous equipment.
• Confident with IT systems relevant to the post.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good general administration skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, provide, maintain and manage resources for safe practical activities.
• Support teachers with practical aspects of the science curriculum.
• Assist with safety procedures and equipment maintenance.
• Support students during laboratory activities and ensure orderly use of facilities.
