Job summary

South Gloucestershire & Stroud College is seeking a Science Technician at Filton Campus to support GCSE and Access departments. You will set up labs, supply equipment, and help lecturers with practical sessions while maintaining safety and cleanliness of labs.

The role requires a degree or relevant experience, and involves working as part of a science team with safeguarding checks and DBS Enhanced Disclosure as part of the recruitment process.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent or substantial relevant subject experience.
• Science A level or degree qualification (or equivalent).
• Previous experience in a laboratory or technician role in industry or education.
• Ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Set up laboratories and training areas daily for forthcoming classes, supplying equipment and material as requested by lecturers.
• Maintain laboratories and preparation rooms to a high standard.
• Ensure safety and correct storage/use of chemicals and materials in line with health and safety regs.
• Check equipment and support practical sessions and day-to-day duties in the science lab.
