Job summary

SGS College is seeking a Science Technician to join the team at our Filton Campus, supporting GCSE plus and Access departments. The role involves preparing labs for teaching, checking equipment, and assisting with practical sessions while contributing to day-to-day lab duties.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree or equivalent or have substantial relevant subject experience, with a background in laboratory work and a collaborative approach to team tasks.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a lab or as a Technician in education or industry is beneficial.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Willingness to set up labs and prepare equipment daily for teaching.

Responsibilities

• Ensure laboratories and tools comply with Health and Safety Regulations.
• Set up laboratories and training areas daily, supplying equipment and material as requested by lecturers.
• Maintain laboratories and preparation rooms to a high standard.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• To ensure the laboratories and tools are safe in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations. To ensure the safe storage and use of chemicals and other materials in accordance with current Health and Safety Regulations and good practice. To set up the laboratories and training areas on a daily basis in preparation for forthcoming classes, supplying equipment and material as requested by lecturers including the setting up of audio and visual equipment. To maintain laboratories and preparation rooms to a high standard.
