Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a proactive Science Technician to join a thriving secondary academy in Oxfordshire. You will support Biology, Chemistry and Physics teaching, preparing practical equipment, managing chemical stocks, and ensuring safe, well-organised labs.

The role is full-time and permanent with an immediate or upcoming start, offering training and development within a supportive department and good transport links to the Oxfordshire area.

Qualifications

• Strong educational background in science.
• Excellent organisational skills and reliability.
• Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
• Strong attention to detail and awareness of health, safety and chemical handling protocols.

Responsibilities

• Preparing apparatus, solutions, and chemicals for practical science lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
• Setting up, testing, and clearing away experiments with health and safety in mind.
• Maintaining, organising, and securely storing laboratory equipment, glassware, and hazardous materials.
• Assisting teachers during practical classes and supporting students with hands-on investigations.
• Ensuring laboratories and prep rooms are safe, clean, compliant and well stocked.
• Assisting with risk assessments, COSHH data sheets, and safety equipment audits.
