  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time (Flexible Options Available)


About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Rotherham. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator who can inspire students and foster a love of science through engaging and innovative teaching.


The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality Science lessons, supporting student achievement, and contributing to the continued success of the department.


Key Responsibilities


  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Science lessons in line with the national curriculum.

  • Teach Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 where appropriate.

  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing timely feedback.

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning.

  • Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all learners.

  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management.

  • Support students in achieving their academic potential and developing scientific curiosity.

Requirements


  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics.

  • Experience teaching Science in a secondary school setting is desirable.

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.

  • Ability to motivate and engage students of varying abilities.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).


Desirable Qualifications & Experience


  • Experience teaching GCSE Science.

  • Ability to teach a Science specialism at a higher level.

  • Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

  • Knowledge of current curriculum developments and assessment practices.

  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
