Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated Mathematics & Science Teacher to join a supportive secondary school in Barnsley. You will deliver high-quality Maths and Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and 4, inspiring students and helping them achieve academic potential.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching Mathematics and/or Science in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and Science.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Mathematics and Science lessons in line with the National Curriculum.
  • Teach Mathematics and Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback to support attainment.
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all students.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management.
  • Support students in achieving their academic potential and developing problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, parents' evenings, and school events.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and school improvement initiatives.

Mathematics & Science Teacher

Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time (Flexible Options Available)

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Mathematics & Science Teacher to join a supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Barnsley. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator who can inspire students in both Mathematics and Science, fostering curiosity, confidence, and a love for learning.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons, supporting student achievement, and contributing to the continued success of the Maths and Science departments.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Mathematics and/or Science in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics and Science.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience teaching GCSE Mathematics and GCSE Science.
  • Ability to teach a Science specialism (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
  • Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • Knowledge of current curriculum developments and assessment practices.
  • Evidence of continued professional development.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
