Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is helping a high-achieving state secondary academy in Oxford recruit a Science Technician to support Biology, Chemistry and Physics practicals. The role is full-time, term-time-only, starting September, with responsibility for safe handling of chemicals, lab prep and equipment.

You will manage the prep room, prepare solutions, calibrate equipment, maintain inventories, and work under the Head of Department to ensure CLEAPSS and COSHH compliance.

Qualifications

• A degree or strong background in a core scientific field (Chemistry, Physics, or Biology)
• Previous experience working in a laboratory, scientific, or educational prep-room setting
• Complete familiarity with health and safety regulations in a school setting (CLEAPSS and COSHH)
• Excellent organizational capabilities, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to team support

Responsibilities

• Preparing chemical solutions, organizing physics apparatus, and laying out biology resources in line with lesson requirements
• Managing the science prep room, cleaning and calibrating laboratory equipment
• Maintaining rigorous chemical inventories and supporting safety compliance with CLEAPSS and COSHH
• Assisting the Head of Department in ensuring a safe, efficient practical learning environment
