Job description

Are you a recent Science graduate eager to inspire the next generation of scientists? Are you considering a career in teaching or education?

A forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Rochdale is looking for a passionate Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience, especially for those considering a future in teaching or a PGCE course.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support students across KS3 and KS4 in Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics lessons.

• Provide one-to-one and small group interventions to reinforce learning.

• Assist teaching staff in preparing practical experiments and classroom resources.

• Help maintain a safe, engaging, and well-organised science lab environment.

• Monitor student progress and support classroom behaviour management strategies.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Holds a degree in a science-related subject (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or similar).

• Has a keen interest in education and supporting young people.

• Communicates clearly and confidently with students and staff.

• Demonstrates initiative, patience, and strong organisational skills.

• Experience working with young people (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, coaching) is an advantage but not essential.
