Teaching Personnel is seeking a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. This is a full-time position starting immediately and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of a permanent role depending on performance.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a psychology graduate aiming to gain practical experience in education, especially for those interested in teaching, educational psychology, or mental health support. The successful candidate will collaborate with teachers and pastoral staff to support students facing learning difficulties, special educational needs (SEN), and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
The position involves providing both academic and emotional support to help students build confidence, resilience, and positive learning habits.
Providing one-to-one and small group support to students, especially those with SEMH needs or SEN.
Assisting students with their academic progress, focusing on areas needing additional support.
Supporting students' pastoral and emotional well-being through guidance and encouragement.
Helping students develop self-esteem, motivation, and behaviour.
Collaborating with teachers and SENCOs to adapt lesson materials for students with additional learning needs.
Observing student behaviour and progress, and reporting concerns to the pastoral team and SENCO.
Supporting the implementation of individual learning plans (ILPs) and behaviour management strategies.
Promoting a positive and inclusive school environment.
Assisting with exam preparation, study skills, and stress and anxiety management.
Minimum requirements include:
A degree in Psychology or a related field.
A genuine interest in education, child development, and mental health.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
