Job summary

Just ‘B’ is recruiting a Schools Support Worker to provide emotional wellbeing support for children and young people in alternative provision settings. You will apply a trauma-informed approach, work with schools and families, and contribute to safeguarding efforts while delivering small group work and maintaining records.

The role requires relevant qualifications, understanding of trauma, strong communication and IT skills, and a willingness to travel across Yorkshire.

Fixed term Contract
Location: Community based / Crimple House, Hornbeam Park Avenue, Harrogate, HG2 8 NA
Hours: 30 hours - Monday-Friday during school hours, term time only (hours are flexible).
Salary: £17.38 per hour

About the role
As a Schools Support Worker, you will provide emotional wellbeing support to children and young people in alternative provision educational settings, helping us reach more children and young people through Just ‘B. You will use a trauma-informed approach, recognising the impact of adverse early-life experiences on behaviour, emotional wellbeing and risk‑taking behaviours. Working collaboratively with schools, families, professionals and our Safeguarding Team, you will help ensure children and young people receive the right support to achieve positive outcomes. The role will also involve delivering small group work, supporting training, maintaining accurate records and contributing to the ongoing development of our service.

About You
We are looking for a compassionate, confident and adaptable individual with a relevant qualification, such as a degree in psychology, social work or a related field, or a diploma in counselling. You will have an understanding of trauma and its impact on children and young people, alongside the ability to identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns. You will be confident working collaboratively with professionals, parents and carers, while also being able to work independently. Strong communication, organisational and IT skills are essential, as is the ability to maintain accurate records, uphold confidentiality and follow professional standards. You will be committed to equality, diversity and delivering high-quality, ethical support to children and young people. The ability to travel across Yorkshire is also required.
