Job summary

Vision for Education are seeking an experienced Youth Worker to work in a primary and secondary school that caters to students with Autism, Learning difficulties, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. The Youth Worker will provide one-to-one support to students, build rapport to encourage attendance, and follow the guidance of the teacher while handling conflicts as they arise.

The role runs 8:30 - 15:30, Monday to Friday, term-time only for the full academic year.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Level 3 qualification is desirable but not required
  • Able to obtain suitable references and a valid DBS check
  • Experience working with children with challenging behaviours

About the role:
  • The Youth Worker will be supporting young people with Special educational need's on a one-to-one basis.
  • Building a strong rapport with the student to encourage them to attend and thrive in school
  • Following the guidance of the teacher but knowing the student well enough to deal with any conflicts
  • Working 8:30 - 15:30 Monday to Friday
  • Working term time only for the full academic year
About the school:
  • Located in Smethwick
  • Caters to students with moderate needs, learning difficulties and Social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Easily accessible with parking and public transport links.
  • Supportive to staff, running weekly CPD training and team meetings.
About you:
  • A relevant Level 3 Qualification such as Children and Young People's Workforce, Sporting qualifications and more is desired but not required.
  • Able to obtain suitable references and a valid DBS check*
  • Experience working with children with challenging behaviours and backgrounds
  • A non-judgmental and caring approach
