Job summary

TEEM Recruitment Ltd. is seeking a dependable School Caretaker / Site Manager in Accrington to oversee daily site operations for a busy school. The role is full-time, temporary with potential to go permanent, working 35 hours weekly with early/late shift options.

The successful candidate will maintain safety, security and a welcoming environment, perform minor repairs, manage records and coordinate with contractors to ensure the site remains fully operational.

Qualifications

• Experience as School Caretaker, Site Manager or similar facilities role.
• Strong practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• Knowledge of health and safety including fire safety, Legionella and asbestos.
• Ability to work independently and use your own initiative.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork.
• Current Enhanced DBS.
• Availability to start on 19 October 2026.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily upkeep, maintenance and security of the school site, including opening/locking.
• Maintain records for maintenance, compliance, safety and PPM checks.
• Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks.
• Undertake basic DIY; painting and decorating experience advantageous.
• Ensure premises are clean, safe and fully operational.
• Liaise with contractors and oversee on-site works.
• Set up rooms and support site logistics for events.
• Support compliance procedures, asbestos awareness and site safety monitoring.
• Identify and report maintenance or safety issues promptly.
• Maintain high standards of site condition at all times.
• Respond to issues affecting safety, security or smooth operation.
