Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking a dedicated Site Assistant for Blessed Hugh Faringdon School to join the Site Team. The role focuses on keeping the site clean, safe, and well-maintained for students, staff, and visitors, with duties spanning upkeep, security, and event setup.

The position requires reliability, a proactive approach, and flexibility to accommodate school needs, including early mornings and after-hours.

Qualifications

• Reliable, proactive and able to work independently.
• Good team player with a positive attitude.
• Basic maintenance and DIY skills desirable.
• Willingness to adapt to the needs of the school, including occasional flexibility with working hours.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the upkeep, maintenance, cleanliness, and security of the school site.
• Opening and closing the school buildings on a rotational basis (6:30am opening, 6:00pm closing).
• Carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks.
• Assisting with site security and health & safety procedures.
• Setting up rooms and spaces for school events and activities.
• Working flexibly to accommodate the needs of the school.
• Basic understanding of Health and Safety, COSHHH and Building Control.
