Job summary

Yanwath Primary School, part of Cumbria Education Trust, seeks a reliable Site Assistant to maintain buildings and grounds. The role is 10 hours per week, Monday to Friday with flexible scheduling, across 38 + 3 weeks in school holiday periods.

You will perform caretaking, maintenance and security duties, helping to keep the school safe, welcoming and well-kept for pupils, staff and visitors. Opportunities to assist other Trust schools may arise.

Qualifications

• Practical maintenance, caretaking or handyman skills.
• Awareness of health, safety and hygiene procedures.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.

Responsibilities

• Carry out minor repairs and maintenance such as replacing handles, bulbs and furniture.
• Assist with decorating and upkeep of school buildings and facilities.
• Identify and report maintenance issues requiring further attention.
• Remove bagged rubbish to the school skip; daily litter picking and waste handling.
• Set up and clear seating, desks and equipment for assemblies and events.
• Move furniture and equipment around the school as required.
• Support transportation of resources, including use of the school minibus where appropriate.
• Open/close the school premises securely and perform security checks.
• Respond to security alarm call-outs when required.
