Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a reliable Site Assistant for a Secondary School in London. 37 hours per week, 7:00-15:00 or 11:00-19:00 on alternating shifts. Salary £24,000–£26,500 depending on experience, full-time contract and start ASAP.

You'll work with the Site Manager to keep our school premises safe, clean and welcoming for about 1,200 students and staff. Responsibilities include security, maintenance, event setup, grounds care, and health and safety duties, with DBS check required.

Qualifications

• Solid experience in general DIY, maintenance, or building trades.
• Reliable and punctual with ability to work independently.
• Ability to respond calmly to site issues or emergencies.
• Good communication to interact with teachers, pupils, and contractors.
• Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check, mandatory for school staff.

Responsibilities

• Security: manage keyholder duties, alarms, and site safety.
• Maintenance: small DIY tasks, basic plumbing, painting, carpentry.
• Operations: set up halls for assemblies and events, assist with deliveries.
• Grounds Care: keep walkways clear and assist with winter gritting.
• Health & Safety: test fire alarms and water systems, report hazards.
