Academics Ltd is recruiting a reliable Site Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Gravesend. The role focuses on keeping premises safe, secure and well‑maintained for pupils and staff.

Key duties include opening/closing, general maintenance, health and safety inspections, and setting up spaces for events. The ideal candidate has prior site or facilities experience and an enhanced DBS or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Site Assistant, Caretaker, Site Manager, Facilities Assistant, Maintenance Operative, or similar role.
• Good practical maintenance, repair and DIY skills.
• Sound understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
• Flexible, hands-on and reliable approach to work.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Opening and locking the school premises each day.
• Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and basic DIY tasks.
• Completing routine health and safety inspections across the site.
• Ensuring buildings and grounds are clean, safe and well‑maintained.
• Setting up classrooms, halls and outdoor areas for events.
• Monitoring site security and reporting concerns.
• Assisting with deliveries, contractor access and site logistics.
• Supporting day‑to‑day upkeep of facilities and equipment.
