Job summary

Step Teachers is seeking a reliable Site Assistant to support a welcoming school in Enfield. The role focuses on practical maintenance to ensure facilities are safe, secure and well maintained for pupils, staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will help operate the school site daily, carry out checks, assist with events, and liaise with contractors while upholding safeguarding and welfare of children at all times.

Qualifications

• Caretaking or facilities maintenance experience.
• Good DIY and maintenance skills.
• Understand health and safety in the workplace.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Reliable, proactive and organised.
• Good communication and teamwork.
• Experience in a school environment is desirable.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance, repairs and basic DIY tasks across the school site.
• Assist with opening and closing of school buildings.
• Keep premises safe, clean, secure and well presented.
• Support health and safety procedures and report concerns.
• Undertake routine checks of facilities, equipment and grounds.
• Set up rooms and facilities for events and activities.
• Liaise with contractors and visitors.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff.
• Support site security procedures and emergency arrangements.
