Job summary

JobsTrackR is seeking a reliable Site Assistant in Enfield to support the school facilities team. You will perform maintenance, basic repairs and ensure the site is safe, secure and well presented for pupils, staff and visitors.

The role requires practical DIY skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a proactive, organised approach within a busy school environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Carry out general maintenance, repairs and basic DIY tasks across the site.
  • Assist with opening and closing of school buildings.
  • Keep premises safe, clean, secure and well presented.
  • Support health and safety procedures and report concerns.
  • Undertake routine checks of facilities, equipment and grounds.
  • Set up rooms for events and activities.
  • Liaise with contractors and visitors on site.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff.
  • Support site security and emergency arrangements as needed.
  • Carry out other duties as directed by leadership.

Step Teachers are currently seeking a reliable and proactive Site Assistant to support a welcoming school in Enfield. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with practical maintenance experience who enjoys working in a busy school environment and takes pride in ensuring facilities are safe, secure, and well maintained.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the school site, helping to create a safe and positive environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.

Duties as a Site Assistant:
  • Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and basic DIY tasks across the school site
  • Assist with the opening and closing of school buildings when required
  • Ensure the school premises remain safe, clean, secure, and well presented
  • Support health and safety procedures and report any concerns promptly
  • Undertake routine checks of school facilities, equipment, and grounds
  • Assist with setting up rooms and facilities for school events and activities
  • Liaise with contractors and visitors attending the site
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff
  • Support site security procedures and emergency arrangements where necessary
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as directed by the school leadership team
Ideal Site Assistant:
  • Previous experience within a caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or site assistant role
  • Good practical DIY and maintenance skills
  • Understanding of health and safety responsibilities within a workplace
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
  • Reliable, proactive, and organised approach to work
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience working within a school environment is desirable but not essential
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
