Job summary

Teach Now is seeking a practical Site Assistant for a specialist school in Hertfordshire. You will support the Site Manager with maintenance, repairs, painting, grounds care and general upkeep to ensure the site is safe and ready for learning.

The role involves setting up spaces for events, assisting with security, and responding to urgent issues. Experience in maintenance is valued; a full UK driving licence is required, and safeguarding checks will be completed.

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance, caretaking or a similar role.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Practical DIY skills, including minor repairs and painting.
• An understanding of health and safety and safe manual handling.
• A commitment to safeguarding and willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check and other pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, repairs, painting and caretaking tasks.
• Keep buildings, grounds and access routes clean and safe.
• Check doors, windows and alarms, reporting hazards promptly.
• Set up rooms for meetings, events and after-school activities.
• Receive deliveries and safely move furniture and equipment.
• Support contractor access and respond to urgent site issues.
