Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting a Science Technician for a Sunderland secondary school. The role involves preparing and setting up equipment for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics lessons, maintaining the prep room, and supporting teachers with practical work. You will manage stock, order supplies, and ensure COSHH-compliant safety practices.

The position is long-term with ASAP start, offering competitive daily rates and weekly PAYE, with CPD and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related science is desirable.
• Practical knowledge of laboratory environments and procedures.
• Organised, methodical and safety-conscious approach.
• Willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS via Update Service or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and setting up equipment and materials for Science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
• Maintaining and organising the science prep room and laboratory equipment.
• Ensuring health and safety standards are met across all practical activities.
• Supporting teachers with the delivery of practical lessons where required.
• Managing stock, ordering supplies, and keeping accurate records.
• Disposing of chemicals and materials safely and in line with COSHH regulations.
