Job summary

Polaris Education in Kinver, near Stourbridge, is hiring a full-time premises caretaker to maintain safe, clean and secure school buildings and grounds for up to 100 pupils aged 5-16 with complex needs.

You will manage cleaning duties, routine maintenance, health and safety checks, and coordinate repairs with contractors, reporting to the Headteacher. A full UK driving licence is required, and an enhanced DBS check will be completed.

Qualifications

• Experience in school maintenance or caretaking preferred.
• Experience in building maintenance.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Basic DIY skills.
• Good literacy and numeracy.
• Ability to work with children and young people with SEMH needs.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Enhanced DBS check (cost covered by employer).

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean, safe and secure school premises including building and grounds.
• Carry out cleaning, routine maintenance, refurbishment and minor repairs.
• Provide supervision of school cleaning staff.
• Promote health and safety around the school.
• Carry out porterage duties and move furniture/equipment.
• Report issues to the Headteacher and coordinate repairs with contractors.
• Carry out daily cleaning and annual deep cleans of classrooms and shared spaces.
• Ensure security of premises, lock/unlock, and check safety systems.
