Job summary

Alexandra Junior School is seeking a proactive Premises Officer to assist the Headteacher in managing the school's buildings and grounds, ensuring a safe, clean environment for users. You will work with the Head of Estates and Premises to oversee site duties, safety and compliance.

The role covers security, maintenance, stock control, fire drills, lettings, and emergency call-outs as a key holder. A collaborative approach with contractors and staff is essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the schedule of premises ensuring areas meet the required standard.
• Secure premises including main alarm, locks, CCTV and checks.
• Identify maintenance needs and prepare a works list for the Headteacher.
• Arrange fuel, salt and other supplies for energy management and site safety.
• Carry out regular site safety checks (fire, water, lights) per policy.
• Oversee certification checks and gas/asbestos inspections.
• Assist with out of hours lettings and use of premises.
• Oversee porterage, moving equipment and setting up areas.
• Monitor cleaning standards and maintenance of grounds.
• Attend emergency call-outs as a registered key holder.
• Attend meetings and training as required.
