Join the Heartbeat of a Unique School Community

We are seeking a highly organised, warm, and proactive Office & HR Manager to run the day-to-day operations of our busy school office and support the wellbeing of our staff team.

Liberty Woodland School is not a typical school—and this is not a typical school admin role. As a key member of the leadership support team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of both administrative and HR functions, while maintaining our creative and child-focused culture. This is a full-time, all-year-round position suited to someone who thrives on variety, responsibility, and being the go-to person in a fast-paced school environment.

What You Will Do
Office Management & Administration
  • Oversee the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the school office.
  • Provide high-level administrative support to the Head of School and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Be the first point of contact for parents, staff, visitors, and external agencies.
  • Manage school communications, diaries, calendars, meetings, and events.
  • Ensure data systems are accurate, up-to-date, and GDPR compliant.
  • Coordinate bookings for minibus, school visits, events, and CPD days.
  • Handle attendance records, admissions, school census returns, and general correspondence.
  • Provide light finance admin support, including reconciliation of income, handling receipts, and liaising with the Finance Team.
HR & Recruitment
  • Manage and coordinate the full recruitment cycle, ensuring adherence to safer recruitment practices.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, support onboarding, and manage induction paperwork.
  • Record staff absence, leave, training, and ensure safeguarding compliance.
  • Prepare HR documentation and letters, track probation and appraisal reviews, and support payroll administration.
  • Maintain HR systems, ensuring processes are efficient, secure, and well-organized.
  • Support the Head of School in promoting a professional, positive, and inclusive school culture.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, families, and visitors.
  • Participate in whole-school initiatives and be a visible, dependable figure in the school.
Who You Are
  • An experienced office manager or administrator with strong HR and recruitment knowledge.
  • Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and proactive.
  • Highly competent with IT systems and admin software.
  • A strong communicator capable of managing multiple relationships professionally and warmly.
  • Reliable, resilient, and solution-focused—comfortable with the busy rhythm of school life.
  • Friendly, approachable, and calm under pressure.
  • Enthusiastic about Liberty Woodland School’s outdoor, progressive, and child-led approach.
  • Previous experience in a school environment is desirable but not essential.
Why Join Liberty Woodland School?
  • Be part of a visionary school community where people are valued and children come first.
  • Work alongside a supportive, kind, and passionate team of educators.
  • Enjoy role variety with opportunities to contribute across the school.
  • Access ongoing professional development and a culture of learning.
  • Make a tangible impact in a small, innovative, and growing school.
