Job summary

Veritas Education are partnering with a welcoming secondary school in the Wigan area to recruit a School Nurse / First Aider for a full-time, ongoing position with an immediate start. You will oversee health, wellbeing and safety for students aged 11–16, providing vital medical support throughout the school day.

Ideal candidates include experienced first aiders, school nurses, healthcare assistants or medical professionals who thrive in a busy secondary school environment.

• Valid First Aid at Work qualification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and medical support to students and staff during the school day.
• Respond to accidents, injuries, and medical emergencies promptly.
• Administer medications following school policies.
• Keep accurate incident and treatment records.
• Support students with medical conditions and healthcare plans.
• Liaise with parents, carers, school staff and external healthcare professionals.

Veritas Education are currently working in partnership with a welcoming secondary school in the Wigan area who are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse / First Aider to join their team on a full-time, ongoing basis with an immediate start.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced first aider, school nurse, healthcare assistant, or medical professional looking to work within a busy and rewarding secondary school environment, supporting the health, wellbeing, and safety of students aged 11-16.

The Role:

• Providing first aid treatment and medical support to students and staff throughout the school day
• Responding to accidents, injuries, and medical emergencies
• Administering medication in line with school policies and procedures
• Maintaining accurate records of incidents, treatments, and medication administration
• Supporting students with medical conditions and individual healthcare plans
• Liaising with parents, carers, school staff, and external healthcare professionals
• Ensuring the medical room and first aid supplies are fully stocked and maintained
• Promoting the health and wellbeing of students across the school

Requirements:

• Valid First Aid at Work qualification (or equivalent)
• Previous experience within a school, healthcare, nursing, or first aid setting
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
• A caring, empathetic, and proactive approach
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is ESSENTIAL for this role
