Job summary

Exclusive Education are seeking a dedicated School Nurse / Level 3 First Aider to work within a welcoming secondary school in Wigan.

This role focuses on providing first aid, managing medical needs and promoting a safe, healthy school environment for pupils and staff. You will liaise with parents and external healthcare professionals while maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

  • Must hold Level 3 First Aid at Work qualification.
  • Experience in a school, healthcare or similar setting.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Calm, professional and able to respond in emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first aid and emergency care to students, staff and visitors.
  • Assess injuries and illnesses; determine treatment or referral as needed.
  • Administer medications per school policies and individual healthcare plans.
  • Maintain medical records and incident reports.
  • Manage care plans for students with chronic conditions.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, staff and external healthcare professionals.
  • Support safeguarding and wellbeing procedures.
  • Ensure first aid supplies and medical equipment are stocked and maintained.
  • Promote health awareness and wellbeing initiatives.

Salary: 100 - 120 per day depending on experience
Contract: Full Time
Location: Wigan

Exclusive Education are seeking a dedicated School Nurse / Level 3 First Aider to work within a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Wigan.


This is an excellent opportunity for a caring, organised and proactive individual who is passionate about supporting the health, wellbeing and welfare of young people. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing first aid, managing medical needs and promoting a safe and healthy school environment.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide first aid and emergency care to students, staff and visitors.

  • Assess injuries and illnesses, determining appropriate treatment or further medical intervention where necessary.

  • Administer medication in line with school policies and individual healthcare plans.

  • Maintain accurate medical records and incident reports.

  • Manage and monitor student health care plans, including those relating to chronic medical conditions.

  • Liaise effectively with parents, carers, school staff and external healthcare professionals.

  • Support the school's safeguarding and wellbeing procedures.

  • Ensure first aid supplies and medical equipment are fully stocked and maintained.

  • Promote health awareness and wellbeing initiatives across the school.


The Successful Candidate Will:


  • Hold a recognised Level 3 First Aid at Work qualification (essential).

  • Have previous experience working within a school, healthcare or similar setting.

  • Possess strong communication and organisational skills.

  • Be calm, professional and able to respond effectively in emergency situations.

  • Demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach when supporting young people.

  • Have a good understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality requirements.
