Job summary

Archdeacon Cambridge’s School is seeking a casual School Meals Supervisory Assistant / Play Leader to support lunchtime supervision and playground activities in Twickenham. The role offers up to 2 hours per day, Monday to Friday, 11:45am–1:45pm, with possible job share and occasional extra hours to cover absences or training.

The successful candidate will supervise and assist with the welfare of pupils, engage in outdoor play, and work in the dining hall and playgrounds.

Qualifications

• Experience with children and childcare-related training is advantageous.
• An enhanced DBS check is required for successful candidates.

• Set up the Lunch Hall and supervise children at lunchtime.
• Supervise welfare and conduct of infant or junior children during lunch and in the playground.

SCHOOL MEALS SUPERVISORY ASSISTANT (SMSA) / PLAY LEADER

(CASUAL CONTRACT)

Salary: £13.97 per hour (plus holiday pay)

Start: January 2027Archdeacon Cambridge’s School is a popular, two form entry primary school situated opposite Twickenham Green. We currently have a vacancy for one School Meals Supervisory Assistant / Play Leader.

This role will be on a casual contract initially. The successful applicant will be asked to work for up to 2 hours per day, Monday to Friday betweem 11.45am and1.45pm. We are happy to consider applications from candidates who are interested in a job share as we have found that this works well in this role. There may also be a opportunity to work additional hours to cover absence or in order to undertake training.

Our lunch time staff are responsible for setting up the Lunch Hall and the supervision, welfare and conduct of infant or junior children at lunchtime. Candidates are expected to actively engage and support children in playground games and other activities. The job involves working in the dining hall and the playgrounds. It requires a good level of physical fitness, good interpersonal skills, a sense of humour and an enjoyment of outdoor activities. Experience of working with children and evidence of training which relates to childcare and education would be an advantage.
