Job summary

Beech Hall School Ltd in Huddersfield is seeking a proactive Maintenance Operative (Caretaker) to help keep the school safe, welcoming and well-maintained for pupils, staff and visitors.

You will carry out routine maintenance, security checks and support events, with opportunities to work across trades and grounds. Fixed-term, full-time role of 40 hours per week, salary up to £27,632 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance, caretaking, facilities, trades or grounds maintenance.
• Hold a Full UK Driving Licence.
• Practical skills in plumbing, decorating, joinery, electrical work or general repairs.
• IWFM/IOSH First Aid at Work or similar health & safety qualifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure the school site and buildings.
• Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs and general upkeep tasks.
• Conduct regular site security, health & safety and compliance checks.
• Set and monitor alarm systems and respond to security concerns.
• Maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment across the grounds.
• Support school events, lettings and activities outside core hours.
• Report maintenance issues and assist with planned preventative maintenance.
• Collaborate with colleagues and contractors to maintain high site standards.
