Lister Community School is seeking an enthusiastic, organised School Librarian to lead and develop the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) into a vibrant, inclusive environment that supports teaching, learning and student development.
The post holder will manage LRC resources and budgets, lead reading interventions, develop information literacy programmes and coordinate library staff and volunteers to maximise impact across the school.

Salary: NJC Scale S02 point 26 to 28 (depending on experience)

Reports to: Assistant Headteacher
Responsible for: Assistant Librarians and, on occasion, Learning Support Assistants (LSAs)

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate literacy and learning professional to play a central role in shaping the school’s reading culture and ensuring that students have access to high-quality resources, information and opportunities to develop independent learning skills.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic development and day-to-day management of the LRC, ensuring that it remains a welcoming, safe and well-resourced hub at the heart of school life. Working closely with curriculum teams, senior leaders, students and external partners, the postholder will develop the library’s role in supporting academic achievement, literacy development and lifelong learning.
The School Librarian will lead reading interventions, develop information literacy programmes, manage library resources and budgets, support staff development and coordinate library staff and volunteers to maximise the impact of the LRC across the school community.
