Job summary

Beaver Road Primary School is seeking a Catering Assistant to join its busy kitchen team. You will support the Catering Manager and staff in preparing and serving nutritious meals for pupils and staff.

The role focuses on food preparation, safe hygiene practices and efficient service within term-time hours. The post is permanent and part-time, with a 20-hour week pattern and a 39-week year.

Responsibilities

• Handling and preparation of food.
• Preparing and assisting with cooking meals and dishes in accordance with the school menu cycle.
• Providing support to the Catering Manager.
• Learning and recording skills and recipes from other members of the team.
• Ensuring a clean, hygienic and safe working area.
• Ensuring the safe storage of food.
• Complying with food hygiene regulations, COSHH requirements and risk management practices.
• Carrying out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job.
• Assisting with the preparation and serving of food.
• Assisting with monitoring food stocks and stock movement.
• Ensuring that cleaning equipment and materials are safely stored.
• Undertaking emergency cleaning duties as required.
• Communicating politely and positively with pupils.
