Job summary

St Peter's Primary School is seeking an Assistant Cook to prepare and serve nutritious meals, maintain high hygiene standards and create a welcoming dining environment for pupils and staff in a busy school catering setting.

You will join a friendly kitchen team, support daily operations, manage food hygiene, and promote healthy eating across the service while handling allergens and fresh ingredients with care.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering within a school or commercial environment.
• Knowledge of HACCP and COSHH.
• Understanding of allergens and safe meal preparation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the day-to-day running and management of the school kitchen with the Cook and wider team.
• Ensure hygiene and health and safety standards are met at all times.
• Help plan and prepare well-balanced, nutritious meals for pupils and staff.
• Assist with cleaning of the kitchen and kitchen equipment.
• Perform other duties to support kitchen operations from start to end of day.
