Job summary

Berkeley Scott is recruiting Kitchen Assistants to join a school catering team in Corby. The role covers helping run efficient service, food preparation and maintaining high hygiene standards in a busy school kitchen.

You will work with a supportive team, with weekly pay and an immediate start option. Prior kitchen experience is helpful, and Food Safety Level 2 and Food Allergen certificates are required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Must have or be willing to obtain Food Safety Level 2 certification.
• Must have or be willing to obtain Food Allergen certificate.
• DBS check (Enhanced DBS) is required or in process.

Responsibilities

• Support the catering team to run the school kitchen smoothly during service.
• Assist with food preparation and serving meals.
• Help maintain kitchen cleanliness and organisation throughout shifts.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures.
• Assist with stock rotation and correct storage of food items.
• Provide friendly service to pupils and staff in a school setting.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Kitchen Assistant, you'll support the catering team in keeping the school kitchen running smoothly and maintaining high standards throughout service.

Your duties may include:

• Assisting with food preparation and serving meals

• Supporting the catering team during busy service periods

• Preparing ingredients and keeping work areas organised

• Washing up and cleaning kitchen equipment

• Following food safety, hygiene and allergen procedures

• Assisting with stock rotation and correct food storage

• Maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment

• Supporting the team in providing a friendly service to pupils and staff

• Working efficiently as part of a busy catering team

Requirements

To be considered for the role, you'll need:

• Previous kitchen, catering or hospitality experience is desirable

• Food Safety Level 2 Certificate - required, or willingness to obtain

• Food Allergen Certificate - required, or willingness to obtain

• Enhanced DBS - required

• 2 references - required

• A reliable, hardworking and positive attitude
