Berkeley Scott is recruiting a reliable Kitchen Assistant to support a school kitchen in Peterborough. This role offers regular, ongoing work with immediate start and the opportunity to gain experience in education catering.

As a Kitchen Assistant you will help with food preparation, service, washing up and kitchen cleaning, while adhering to food safety and hygiene standards. DBS enhanced, two references and relevant certificates are required or must be obtained.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen or catering environment desirable.
• Enhanced DBS required.
• 2 references required.
• Food Safety Level 2 and Food Allergen certificates required or willingness to obtain.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and safe handling.
• Reliable and punctual with a positive team attitude.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with food preparation and serving.
• Supporting kitchen team with daily catering duties.
• Preparing ingredients and food items as required.
• Washing up and cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas.
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Assisting with school meal service.
• Following food safety and health & safety procedures.
• Ensuring foods are stored and handled safely.
• Working as part of the wider catering team.

What You Will Be Doing As a Kitchen Assistant, your duties will include:

• Assisting with food preparation and serving
• Supporting the kitchen team with daily catering duties
• Preparing ingredients and food items as required
• Washing up and cleaning kitchen equipment and work areas
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
• Assisting with school meal service
• Following food safety, health and safety procedures
• Ensuring food is stored, prepared and handled safely
• Working effectively as part of the wider catering team

To be considered for this Kitchen Assistant role, you will need:

• Previous experience in a kitchen, catering or food service environment is desirable
• Enhanced DBS - required
• 2 references - required
• Food Safety Level 2 Certificate - required or willingness to obtain
• Food Allergen Certificate - required or willingness to obtain
• Good understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling
• Excellent reliability and timekeeping
