Job Summary
We are excited to offer a Band 5 Nurse position in our School Nursing Safeguarding Team on a fixed-term contract. We aim to support your professional growth and facilitate your progression into the SCPHN (Specialist Community Public Health Nurse) School Nurse pathway.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to apply for a funded SCPHN School Nurse training program starting in January 2026 through an internal selection process. This role offers a chance to be part of a dynamic team and develop a long-term career in school nursing.
We seek an enthusiastic nurse passionate about the 5-19 Healthy Child Programme and safeguarding children and young people. Experience with children in community settings and a good understanding of public health are desirable.
Our goal is to train and develop future SCPHN School Nurses within our service.
The successful candidate will work autonomously and as part of a team, conducting Health Needs Assessments, attending child protection case conferences, core group meetings, and other strategy meetings. They will be provided with a comprehensive competency framework and will work unsupervised once deemed competent. The role involves managing a caseload of primary schools, building strong relationships, and supporting children and families. There will also be opportunities for broader professional development through visits to other teams within the service.
