Qualifications

• Previous building maintenance, facilities or repair experience desirable.
• School-based maintenance experience would be advantageous.
• Practical knowledge of general repairs, fixtures and building upkeep.
• Understanding of health and safety procedures and safe tool use.
• Ability to prioritise tasks and respond to maintenance requests.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain accurate work records.
• Professional communication with school staff and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance inspections across the school site.
• Complete minor repairs to doors, locks, furniture and fixtures.
• Assist with basic plumbing-related maintenance within training and authorised responsibilities.
• Identify and report faults involving electrical systems, heating and other installations.
• Carry out basic decorating, patching and touch-up work as required.
• Respond to maintenance requests from teaching and administrative staff.
• Maintain records of completed repairs and outstanding tasks.
• Assist with preventative maintenance schedules and equipment checks.
• Ensure tools, materials and work areas are tidy and secure.
• Help prepare rooms and facilities for school events and activities.
• Support contractor visits and ensure site procedures are followed.
• Report hazards, damaged equipment and potential risks promptly.
• Follow risk assessments and health and safety procedures.
• Work with caretakers, site managers and external providers.
