Job summary

PK Education is seeking reliable School Caretaker cover across local primary and secondary schools in Mansfield. You will carry out maintenance, open/close premises, and ensure classrooms and outdoor areas are safe and tidy.

Ideal candidates have practical DIY skills, a strong focus on health and safety, and the ability to work independently across multiple sites. DBS on Update Service is desirable, and right to work in the UK is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a caretaking or similar role.
• Strong practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload.
• Good awareness of health and safety practices.
• DBS on Update Service desirable (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine site inspections to keep schools safe and well-maintained.
• Complete basic maintenance, repairs and DIY tasks across buildings and grounds.
• Open and lock school premises as required.
• Ensure classrooms, halls and shared areas are clean and ready for use.
• Set up rooms and move furniture for events and activities.
• Monitor heating, lighting, alarms and site systems as needed.
• Maintain external areas including entrances, pathways and playgrounds.
• Report maintenance issues, hazards, vandalism or security concerns promptly.
• Follow health and safety procedures and school policies.
