Job summary

Essex County Council’s School Crossing Patrol team is seeking an officer at Felsted Primary School, Great Dunmow. The role focuses on keeping pupils safe during the morning and afternoon crossings, requiring a punctual, reliable and approachable individual who enjoys engaging with the public.

Uniform, equipment and training are provided. The position is permanent and term-time, with paid holiday entitlements and a 6:40 weekly hour allocation across 39 academic weeks.

Qualifications

• Punctual and reliable individual to support school crossings.
• Able to engage with members of the public in a courteous manner.
• Applicants must have the right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available).

Responsibilities

• Assist in crossing pupils safely in the morning and afternoon.
• Maintain awareness of pedestrians with disabilities and mobility needs.
• Communicate with school staff and drivers to ensure safe crossing conditions.
• Record incidents and report issues to the supervisor as required.
• Ensure uniform and equipment is kept in good condition and replaced when needed.
