Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a punctual and reliable School Crossing Patrol Officer for Greensted County Infant School in Basildon. The role involves assisting with pedestrian crossing safety during a 7.5-hour week across 39 academic weeks, with duties split between morning and afternoon shifts.

Uniform, equipment and training are provided, and visa sponsorship is not available. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be comfortable engaging with the public.

Qualifications

• Must have current, unrestricted right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of pedestrians crossing the road at the school crossing point.
• Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
• Regularly assess risks at the crossing site and report problems to supervisor.
• Assist in preparing reports on accidents and near-misses at the crossing site.
• Ensure uniform and equipment provided are maintained and replacements requested as needed.
• Give clear signals to drivers when stopping traffic and ensure road is clear before pedestrians cross.
