Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a School Crossing Patrol Officer for Felsted Primary School in Great Dunmow. The role is permanent, term-time, and paid at £13.46 per hour. The post involves supporting the crossing twice daily during the 39-week academic year, with 35 minutes in the morning and 45 minutes in the afternoon, 6.40 hours per week.

You will be provided with uniform, equipment and training. Applicants must have a current right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Punctual and reliable individual who engages with the public.
• Willing to work mornings and afternoons during term time.
• Uniform, equipment and training provided.

Responsibilities

• Have regard for the needs of people with disabilities wishing to use the crossing point.
• Maintain regular contact with the schools attended by children using the crossing.
• Regularly assess risks at the crossing site and report problems to supervisor.
• Assist in preparing reports on accidents and incidents at the crossing site.
• Ensure uniform and equipment are maintained and replacements requested when needed.
• Give clear signals to drivers and ensure road is clear of pedestrians.
