Job summary

Harwich and Dovercourt High School is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to support teachers by organising cover work, supervising students, and upholding high standards of conduct. The role requires strong communication and safeguarding awareness within a school setting.

The successful candidate will work within The Sigma Trust framework, contributing to a safe, supportive environment and helping maximise students' life chances through consistent practice and teamwork with staff.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in learning support/early years (or equivalent), with successful recent experience working with children in a school or early years environment.
• Ability to assess pupil progress, motivate learners, and manage classroom behaviour.
• Strong communication skills to build trusting relationships with children, families and staff; proactive teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Collate and organise cover work for teaching staff.
• Supervise pupils engaged in learning activities.
• Be a role model with high expectations of conduct and behaviour.
• Comply with policies on child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection.
