Job summary

Colne Valley High School is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to ensure continuity of learning during teacher absences. You will supervise classes, support student engagement and uphold high expectations in a positive learning environment.

Working under the guidance of teaching staff and the Cover Officer, you will lead sessions, assist with daily cover arrangements and provide administrative support as required, contributing to the wider life of the school.

Qualifications

• Experience in supervising students and maintaining order in a classroom.
• Ability to support learning and adapt to different lessons and pupil needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Organised, calm under pressure and able to work with staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Supervising whole classes during short-term teacher absences.
• Delivering pre-planned learning activities and keeping students on task.
• Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Supporting individual students and small groups to access learning.
• Assisting with daily cover arrangements alongside the Cover Officer.
• Providing administrative support to teaching staff as required.
• Supporting students during lessons, breaks and educational visits.
• Contributing to the wider life of the school and teamwork.
