Job summary

Supply Desk is seeking a proactive Cover Manager to join a welcoming primary school in Watford from September. You will coordinate daily cover arrangements, manage supply staff, and foster strong relationships with teachers and leadership to maintain continuity of learning.

This role focuses on creating a calm, inclusive learning environment, ensuring safeguarding and high standards of behaviour across covered classes.

Qualifications

• Holds relevant experience in school administration, cover supervision, or management.
• Demonstrates strong organisational, administrative, and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to manage staff effectively.
• Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, authoritative presence.
• Passionate about supporting a smooth, nurturing learning environment.
• Promotes inclusive practices and safeguarding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage daily timetable cover to ensure continuity of education across the school.
• Organise, brief, and support supply staff and cover supervisors on arrival.
• Create a well-managed, calm, inclusive environment that supports every child's learning.
• Monitor attendance, absence records, and cover allocation using school systems.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, teachers, supply staff, and leadership colleagues.
• Contribute to school community through administrative organisation and events.
• Work with colleagues to ensure optimal operational outcomes for all children.
• Uphold high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing.
