Job summary

Compass Group UK is seeking a capable chef to organise and supervise a unit within a prestigious independent school. You will manage operations, deliver high-quality food, and lead a small team to ensure service standards are met.

The role emphasises cost awareness, resource planning and staff development while maintaining regulatory compliance. This position is based on-site with a Monday-to-Friday structure and term-time scheduling.

Qualifications

• Good chef skills and knowledge of working with food.
• Proven experience in managing successful teams in similar environments.
• Basic Food Hygiene certificate and IT literacy.
• Excellent financial acumen and catering experience.
• Strong communication and people-management abilities.

Responsibilities

• To organise and supervise the unit in accordance with and to the standards required by Compass Group UK & Ireland, the contract specification and statutory Regulations.
• To be responsible for the overall efficient and effective management of the unit under their control providing a quality service.
• Responsible for the preparation, cooking and service of food to agreed standards and specification.
• To ensure the efficient and economic use is made of all resources, including stock, team members and company assets
