Job summary

St John's Church School in Peterborough is seeking an enthusiastic School Chef to lead our busy kitchen team. You will plan and prepare nutritious, appealing meals for children, manage ordering and stock, and ensure high standards of food hygiene.

This hands-on leadership role covers food preparation, team development, and compliance with School Food Standards. The position runs 7.15am–2.30pm, term time plus two weeks in holidays, with a Grade 7 scale to be decided.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy catering environment.
• Good cooking skills and sound understanding of food safety and allergen management.
• Organised, approachable and able to bring out the best in others.
• Willing to engage in all aspects of kitchen life.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support and motivate our kitchen team.
• Plan, prepare and serve healthy meals meeting School Food Standards.
• Oversee ordering, stock management and provision for lunch and breakfast.
• Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene and safety.
• Collaborate with federation colleagues to share ideas and menus.
