Job summary

Carrfield Primary Academy is seeking a dedicated Catering Manager to lead our school kitchen operations. You will manage a small team, oversee daily food preparation, and ensure high standards of hygiene and service for pupils and staff.

You will deliver meals on a seasonal menu cycle, supervise ordering, waste reduction, and training, while promoting healthy school meals and compliance with School Food Standards.

• Experience in a similar catering or kitchen management role.
• Proven ability to lead, support, and develop a team.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and high standards of work.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and work alongside your team to prepare fresh, high-quality food.
• Deliver meals in line with a seasonal 3-week menu cycle, adapting menus in line with School Food Standards and allergen requirements.
• Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and portion control.
• Maintain the highest standards of hygiene, health and safety, and cleanliness.
• Take ownership of ordering food and supplies, checking deliveries and managing invoices.
• Monitor food usage to minimise waste and make recommendations for improvements.
• Promote school meals through events such as taster days, themed menus, and parent engagement activities.
• Ensure all kitchen staff are trained, supported, and working in line with policies and procedures.
• Manage staffing levels, including arranging cover where required.
