Job summary

Fernwood School in Nottingham is seeking an experienced Catering Manager to lead our busy catering operation, serving over 800 meals daily to 1,536 pupils aged 11-16. You will promote healthy eating, support pupil wellbeing and lead a dedicated team of 10 catering staff to deliver excellent service.

The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday 7.00am - 3.00pm, overseeing menu planning, food safety, budget management and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a busy catering operation in a school or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of food safety standards and allergen management.
• Ability to plan nutritious menus meeting standards and diverse dietary needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the school catering service from menu planning to service delivery.
• Supervise and develop a team of 10 catering staff, including a Deputy Manager and 9 assistants.
• Ensure high standards of hygiene, allergen control and food safety across all operations.
• Drive sustainability by sourcing local, seasonal ingredients and reducing waste.
• Manage the catering budget to maintain quality and value within financial targets.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents to continuously improve service.
