Job summary

Education Authority in Antrim seeks a Catering Manager to lead day-to-day kitchen operations and a catering team across dining centres and production areas. You will ensure safe cooking, portion control, and special-diet meals while maintaining quality service for pupils and staff.

Role requires strong leadership, HACCP knowledge, and experience in stock and budget control. The job involves liaising with school management and parents to promote meals and events.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 2 in food preparation and cooking or City & Guilds 706-1 & 706-2 or equivalent, or two years' catering experience.
• Evidence of effective supervision or management of a catering team.
• Experience in stock control, budget management and financial controls.
• Knowledge of HACCP and provision of special diets (allergens).
• Willingness to undertake job-related training.
• Access to a suitable vehicle or transport to fulfil mobility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare menus and portions with attention to portion control and dietary requirements.
• Organise and supervise food service across dining points and kitchens.
• Follow HACCP and food safety standards; monitor allergens and food safety records.
• Manage deliveries, stock, waste and storage; report equipment faults.
• Promote the catering service to parents, pupils and staff; handle complaints.
• Lead and develop catering staff; conduct training and performance reviews.
