Job summary

Protocol Education Limited is seeking an experienced School Catering Manager in Leeds (LS7) to lead the school kitchen and catering team. The role covers term-time hours with 35 hours per week plus one extra week, ensuring nutritious meals, high standards of food safety, and efficient service in a busy primary school.

You will oversee operations, manage staff, plan cost-efficient menus, monitor budgets, and maintain all compliance records while building strong relationships with pupils, staff

Qualifications

• Experience working in a catering environment.
• Experience supervising or managing a catering team.
• Knowledge of food hygiene regulations and allergen management.
• Food Safety Level 2 minimum (Level 3 desirable).
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Managing the day-to-day operation of the school kitchen.
• Leading, motivating and supporting catering staff.
• Planning nutritious and cost-effective menus in line with school food standards.
• Ordering stock and managing food budgets.
• Ensuring all food hygiene, health and safety regulations are fully adhered to.
• Monitoring allergen management procedures and dietary requirements.
• Maintaining accurate records and compliance documentation.
• Preparing and serving meals when required.
• Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and suppliers.
