Job summary

South Lanarkshire Council is seeking a Cook in Charge at Kirklandpark Primary School in Strathaven, ML10 6DY. The role is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with early start times to support school meals service.

You will lead a catering team, oversee day-to-day operations and ensure high quality meals for pupils and staff. The job requires strong organisational and food safety skills and a commitment to excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising catering staff and managing a kitchen environment.
• Ability to manage stock, ordering and basic financial duties.
• Knowledge of food safety and HACCP principles.

Responsibilities

• Supervision of a team of Facility Assistants (Catering), including training, recruitment, and attendance management.
• Provide a quality catering service and communicate any stock or quality issues to management.
• Carry out cash counting and maintain financial records of transactions.
• Prepare, cook and present a varied menu of items for pupils and staff.
• Coordinate function work and transfer food items to serving areas as required.
• Carry out storage, preparation, cooking and cleaning tasks to maintain hygiene standards.
