Job summary

South Lanarkshire Council is seeking an Assistant Cook in Charge to lead the catering service at Council Offices, Hamilton. You will supervise a team of Facilities Assistants, plan meals, order goods and maintain food safety standards.

This role is 30 hours per week, with term-time hours possibly available, Monday to Friday 8am to 2:30pm, and an hourly rate of £14.12–£14.27. Closing date: 6 October 2026 at 11:55pm.

Qualifications

• Clear communication and people skills are essential.
• Experience supervising a catering or facilities team is preferred.
• Ability to plan, prioritise and complete tasks accurately.

Responsibilities

• Allocate duties, manage rotas and supervise a team of facilities staff.
• Prepare meals, order goods and carry out quality audits.
• Ensure compliance with food safety systems and EH actions.
